Program Overview
The State Department J-1 Work and Travel Program is an Exchange Visitor Program designed to achieve the educational objectives of international and cultural exchange by involving young adults in the daily life of the host country through temporary employment opportunities and to return home to share their experiences. A secondary goal of the program is to encourage Americans to participate in the educational and cultural programs in other countries through exposure to students from around the world. Today’s global markets require international work experience, and the value added by working in the USA is immeasurable to students from overseas.
Program Benefits
1. Seasonal work in the US for up to 4 months
2. Wide variety of industries including amusement parks, national parks, fast food restaurants, retail stores, and hotels
3. Paid positions such as ride operators, cashiers, kitchen helpers, housekeeping staff, lifeguards, front desk, and retail

Work and Travel Participants Requirements
* Currently enrolled in a university
* Between 18 and 28 years of age
* Have a conversational level of English
* Committed to fulfilling job duties for duration of program
* Have a minimum of USD 500.00 available in order to support yourself upon arrival in the United States
* Be able to prove that you will return home at the end of the program by showing ties to your home country
* Enthusiastic, motivated, and mature
* Complete the program duration
